Hello
I know certain questions popped when you saw this thread

I'm undergoing the software engineering program of ALX and I don't intend to quit!

This thread are for people who applied for virtual assistant. I will be updating this thread with information pertaining to alx virtual assistant program, Incase you want to pursue a career with a short learning duration.

ALX Virtual Assistant Program is a two(2) month program, (8 weeks) that will equip you with the skills you need to become a virtual assistant, 40-50hrs a week and 10hrs a day or less.

If you apply for the program, you will undergo four stages of test and if you pass, you will accepted on board.

If you succeed in the program after 2months, you will be added to the "ROOM" for job opportunities and networking. Below, I will be sharing the brochure and curriculum for better understanding of the program.

This ALX virtual assistant program cost $750 but is being offered to Africans for free through several partners sponsorship. So don't listen to anyone that tells you to pay certain amount of fees.

I think this is the second batch but they already commenced the program today, so if you register now, you will be starting on August 15th.

After attending yesterday's onboarding program, they spoke a lot about the role of a virtual assistant, the opportunities and the sponsors of the program (Master card).

Some of the graduates from the virtual assistant program were present, they spoke about the program, the "ROOM" AND how some of them are currently handling 2-3 jobs, through the program, many learnt why recruiters don't normally get back to get when they apply and how to apply for opportunities.

The modes of learning in Virtual Assistant is through Canvas, Slack, Google suite (Word processor, Presentations, and Calendar).

The Slack is a big community for sharing infos with your peers and mentors. Many things were said about the "ROOM" but will only be Access to those who graduate.

So even if you finish your projects but you refuse to peer with your colleagues when necessary, you won't graduate. A lot of events will be hosted with recruiters and mentors so it is highly suggested that you attend to avoid missing out on anything.

Canvas is the platform to access your lectures and materials. A learning mode platform for virtual assistant.

The world is unfair. These online bootcamps sucks. They can't train real programers. Although their grads easily get the jobs.

Today I received several emails pertaining joining Canvas, ALG community (Will soon explain what ALG is all about), I'm yet to receive the one for Slack which others have received.

I Had to chose a time-zone while registering for canvas because Africans timezone differs. Canvas is the platform used to alx to lecture it's students. Materials are provided on the dashboard with limited time.

In today's work session, they talked about two type of ALX virtual assistant students, the normal ones and honorary ones.

The normal ones graduate with a certificate and proceeds for job opportunities.

The honorary ones are provided opportunities and connected! To be along the honorary ones, you have to always do your projects on the first milestone. After the first milestone, your grade will decrease.

This is the second week of the virtual assistant program, for each week, you're required to solve one milestone (milestones are projects done after watching tutorials videos compiled by ALX).

Week one was basically an introduction for ALX virtual assistant (VA), we were required to watch tutorials on Canvas, Slack, The ROOM fellowship and more. After which we did one milestone project, which involved self-introduction, goals and ambition.

Emphasis was made for live events because it will be attended by recruiters, mentors and many great people alike. Also, last week ended with an explanation about the ROOM fellowship, the benefits, and getting jobs in there.

There's been a lot of activities going on for the virtual assistant program.

[s]\[/s]- I was added to group 9 on canvas, this is different from the group I was added on slack, alx really emphasize engaging with peers.

[s]\[/s]- One of the task for this week is peer review, you had to review a peer's project (compulsory because it will affect your grades) and grade them.

[s]\[/s]- A lot of materials to study and in it, they listed out the skills required of a virtual assistant, technical skills, software and tools for work. Personality test and lot more in order to be successful and grow.

[s]\[/s]- An event was hosted yesterday which was mandatory for all VA students to attend because a lot of times, recruiters attend this events and give their opinions about skills and required for the job.

[s]\[/s]- The VA program took a lot of time to explain the benefits of the ROOM and how to make the most of it when added. Please note that, you don't automatically get a job once you're added, you have to make a difference and utilize the materials before you.

How long does it take for alx to respond within the 2 weeks time frame in general and realistic term speaking. Do they really wait till 2 weeks to send admission status?

Been ages since I was here!

Since this week I didn't open week 3 project until today, well I have a lot to do and read on but I'm happy because ALX slack community reached out to me to show they will be there for anyone struggling.

I don't have much to say except that I have been learning a lot from this program. Before now, I was a crazy introvert (still one except I communicate more with people) and this has been thanks to alx! I look forward to learning more!
